The OSGi Framework Multiplication – A RFC 138 overview

The last week, akquinet has presented the RCF 138 of OSGi R4.2 – Draft named Multiple Frameworks in one JVM to the OSGi Users Group – France meeting (more info here and here (in French)).

This RFC defines how to create nested OSGi frameworks and the inherent problematic of such creation. This feature provides a great (and required) isolation mechanism. The talk has presented why such isolation is required and what is the solution proposed by the RFC. Despite not included in the final version of OSGi R4.2, this draft is promising. We hope to see something similar inside OSGi R5.
